After prolonged use, galvanized steel wire ropes will experience varying degrees of wear, which can be classified into external surface wear and internal surface wear based on the location of the wear. Common external surface wear occurs due to friction between the galvanized steel wire rope and objects such as pulley grooves, while internal surface wear is caused by micro-movement friction between the wires of the galvanized steel wire rope during use.

If the internal surface wear of the galvanized steel wire rope becomes severe during use, it will lead to a loss of rigidity, shorten its lifespan, and may result in breakage. Therefore, the damage caused by internal micro-movement is directly related to the fatigue fracture of the wire rope. The combined effect of micro-movement wear and alternating stress can cause cracks and breakage in the galvanized steel wire rope, thereby shortening its lifespan.

In addition to micro-movement wear leading to a shortened lifespan of galvanized steel wire ropes, there are other reasons as well. For example, external surface wear occurs because the surface of the material has a certain roughness, so when the surfaces come into contact, material deformation, adhesion, and material displacement during relative motion contribute to external surface wear. These are unavoidable types of wear, and a method to reduce the degree of wear on galvanized steel wire ropes is to add a pure manganese phosphating film between the strands.

What issues should be considered when selecting materials for hardware stamping parts?

In the variety of steel plate specifications, whether it is a fixed-size plate or a coil plate, the sales price varies with different coil widths for materials of the same type and thickness. Therefore, to reduce costs, efforts should be made in determining the coil width during procurement, aiming to select a coil width range that does not incur additional charges while ensuring material utilization. For fixed-size plates, it is advisable to choose suitable specifications so that after cutting by the steel mill, no secondary cutting is required, thus reducing cutting costs; for coil plates, it is best to select specifications and processes for uncoiling that minimize the workload of secondary cutting and improve work efficiency.
